 Andrew Fondren is a young Union sympathizer living in a Confederate-leaning section of east Tennessee. As a teaching assistant at Tusculum College, he’s given an ultimatum – enlist in the Confederate Army or die. Instead, he goes underground, leaving behind a disappointed father, an ailing mother, and the woman he loves to pilot men through Appalachian backroads to enlist in the Union. 

Shirley Gray never envisioned that a chance encounter on a cold January morning would change her life.
